The Merlene Ottey Fanclub was founded on 1 December 1999 and since then we have grown immense in numbers. Therefore all fanclub members will no longer be listed on this page - though we are naturally still and always looking for new members that are interested in athletics and Merlene Ottey in particular.

Every once in a while the Merlene Ottey Fanclub estabilishes members only competitions where the members can win different kinds of Merlene Ottey effects (for instance signed running spikes). Below you will find details on earlier competitions.

Fanclub competition - Winter 2001

QUESTION: 
"What will be Merlene Ottey's best 60 metres time during the 2001 indoor season?" 2001 indoor season?"  

WINNER: 
No one guessed the right time (7.12 sec.) and no price was given away.

 

Fanclub Competition - Autumn 2000 

MAIN QUESTION:
How will Merlene do at the Olympic Games over 100 metres?
Will she reach the final (place no. 1-8), the semifinal, the quarterfinal or the preliminary heat?

TIEBREAKER QUESTION:
In case of more people answering the main question correct please also answer this:
What will be Merlene's best 100 metre time during the Olympic Games?

WINNER: 
The price (sprinting leotard signed by Merlene) was won by member no. 19 (Clyde from Jamaica) who answered  the main question correct and came closest with his guess on the tiebreaker question.

 

Fanclub Competition - Summer 2000 

QUESTION: 
"What will be Merlene Ottey's best 100 metres time prior to the Olympic Games?"

NO WINNER: 
No one guessed the right time (10.99 sec.) and no price was given away. 

 

Fanclub competition - Winter 2000 

QUESTION: 
"What will be Merlene Ottey's best 60 metres time during the coming indoor season?"

WINNER: 
The competition ran during the indoor season 2000. At the end of the season Merlene's manager Daniel Zimmermann declared the person who guessed the right time (7.14 seconds) as competition winner.  Julia from USA (member no. 27) won and she received a signed pair of Merlene's running spikes as the winner's price.
